ELIGIBILITY

  1. A person who possesses the following qualifications shall be eligible to join the course: • Candidates with at least 50% Marks either in Bachelor’s degree and/or in the Master’s degree in Science/ Social Sciences/ Humanities/ B.B.A/ B.C.A, or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme. However, while calculating merit, marks obtained in Graduation only will be considered. There shall be a relaxation of 5% marks in favour of SC/BC candidates. Candidate with less than 45% marks belonging to these categories shall not be eligible. • Bachelors in Engineering or Technology with specialization in science and mathematics with 55% marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the programme. However, while calculating merit, marks obtained in Graduation only will be considered. There shall be a relaxation of 5% marks in favour of SC/BC candidates. Candidate with less than 50% marks belonging to these categories shall not be eligible.

NOTE: A. Any candidate with less than 50% or less marks would not be eligible.

  1. There shall be a relaxation of 5 % marks in favour of SC/OBC candidates. Candidate with less than 45% marks belonging to these categories shall not be eligible.
  • The reservation in seats and relaxation in the qualifying marks in favour of the reserved categories shall be as per rules of the Govt. of Punjab.
  • Provided that such minimum qualifying marks shall not automatically entitle a candidate to get admission in an institution but only entitle the candidate concerned to fulfil other institutional criteria notified by the institution concerned or by the Government concerned from time to time to apply for admission.
  1. a) Online admission will be offered to only those candidates who will qualify the Common Entrance Test and provide the options for colleges along with subject combination.
  2. b) Candidate must have studied the major subject of the subject combination for at least two years at Bachelor’s level/Master’s level. the minor subject should have been studied at least for one year.
  3. c) Candidates who have appeared for qualifying examination and whose results have not been declared may be provisionally allowed to apply for Common Entrance Test at their own risk and responsibility but they shall become eligible for counselling only after they have produced the evidence of having satisfied the above said conditions on the date of counselling.
  4. d) Result late (RL)/Re-evaluation/Compartment cases, if their results are declared before final counselling, shall be considered subject to availability of seats only.

DURATION OF COURSE AND SCHEDULE OF EXAMINATION

  1. a) The duration of the course of the degree of Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) shall be of two years.

    b) The examination for I and II semesters in first year and III and IV semesters in second year shall be held at such place or places and on such dates as may be fixed by the Vice-Chancellor.

    c) The schedule of dates fixed for B.Ed. examination shall be notified by the Registrar to the Principals of all the affiliated colleges.

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION

  • The admission to B.Ed. Course in the colleges affiliated to Panjab University, Chandigarh, Punjabi University, Patiala and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar for the session 2019-21 shall be made on the basis of the relative merit of the candidates in the Common Entrance Test, subject to the availability of seats in a particular subject combination and as per reservation policy of Government of Punjab.
  • The candidates are required to fill the choices of colleges and Major Subjects on the prescribed proforma on the B.Ed. admission website. He/she will be admitted to the college on the basis of merit for his/her category in the respective subject, provided he/she fulfils the requisite eligibility conditions.

Note : No one who is already in employment (whole time or part time whether in honorary capacity or paid) shall be admitted to B.Ed. Course in a College of Education without taking leave from the employer/Institution/office etc. from the date of commencement of the academic session till the completion of practical skill in teaching examination.

  • Admission to the seats under 15% (All India) quota will be done as per Reservation Policy of the Central Govt.
  • When two or more candidates have secured equal marks in the Common Entrance Test their inter-se merit for admission will be decided on the following criteria:
  1. Candidate with higher percentage of marks in qualifying degree. ii. Candidate older in age shall rank higher in the order of merit.

 

PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION TO B.Ed. COURSE SESSION 2019-21.

GENERAL CONDITIONS 

  • The admission to various Colleges of Education of the three Universities of Punjab will be done strictly as per the Punjab Government Notification (Annexure I) and the Page 10 of 19 N.C.T.E. norms and by the Admission Committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
  • The reservation of seats as given above shall be strictly adhered to. However, in case seats in a reserved category remain vacant, on account of non-availability of qualified candidates, such seats may be filled up from the general category candidates.
  • Applicant applying for the reserved category shall carefully indicate the claim for only one category in the admission form. No change of category will be entertained /permitted at a later stage in the application form.
  • Any incorrect information by the candidate in online form or otherwise provided shall lead to his/her disqualification without any intimation thereof.
  • The minimum qualifying marks in CET will be 25% for General Category candidates and 20% for SC/ST candidates.
  • While calculating merit, credit of 1% of maximum marks will be given to candidates seeking admissions under 85% category, who have passed their 10th and 12th class examination from schools situated in rural areas of Punjab. For this, they will have to submit a certificate issued by the Head/Principal of the school stating that the student has passed 10th and 12th class from his school and that the school falls in the rural area. The certificate should be counter signed by the Sarpanch of the village.
  • There will be two counselling sessions for admission. The allocation of college will be made through two online counselling’s only. The shifting of seats will be allowed during the second counselling only.
  • The admission to all seats belonging to different subjects in the colleges of Education will be done as per the norms laid down by the N.C.T.E as per clause 3.1 of the appendix iv of its Gazette Notification dated 28.11.2014. The subject combination will be decided by the admission committee constituted by the Panjab University Chandigarh
  • The seats falling vacant in the All India category will be converted into 85% state category.
  • In counselling, only the major subject would be allotted by the university. The minor subject would be allotted by the college. Allocation of seat does not mean confirmation of admission. The admission will be confirmed by the college concerned after checking and verification of documents, which shall be responsibility of the college.
  • Colleges shall provide all information regarding the course and other facilities being provided to the students on their website.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

  • The candidates are advised to follow the procedure laid down for online registration and application form submission.

o Incomplete forms will not be given any chance for completion after the last date mentioned on the website link “Important Dates”.

 o It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that correct information is provided when the online form is filled. Any incorrect information will lead to disqualification. 

o Candidate is required to deposit fee of Rs. 2400/- (Rs. 1200/- for SC/PwD) before the last date mentioned on the website link “Important Dates”. Candidate can deposit their fee in any SBI branch located in India. 

o Candidates applying for the reserved category shall carefully indicate the claim for only one category in the admission form to be submitted through online process.

o Any change of information in the Online Admission Form once submitted on the website will not be entertained. 

o Common Entrance Test (CET) will be held as per schedule on the website link “Important Dates”.

o The candidates are required to mention the three examination centre of their own choice while filling up of online form. 

o ADMIT CARDS carrying the Roll Numbers will be issued to the candidates provisionally and will be available under candidate’s login, subject to the final confirmation of their eligibility. It is further clarified that the candidates shall be taking the Entrance Test at their own risk and responsibility as far as their eligibility is concerned and the University shall, in no way, be responsible if they are found ineligible later, leading to cancellation of their results or any other circumstance(s) emanating from the same.

 o The candidates shall be allowed for the Test only on the production of the Admit Card along with one photo identity card at the Centre. No candidate shall be allowed to take the Entrance Test without the Admit Card under any circumstances. 

o If there is any problem in downloading the Admit Card from the website, candidate should send the email at pbbedadmissions@pu.ac.in or personally visit B.Ed. Entrance Test Cell at Panjab University Chandigarh.

 o The minimum qualifying marks in B.Ed.-CET-2019 will be 25% for General Category students and 20% for SC/ST candidates.

o Once the online Application form is submitted, the candidate shall not be allowed to make any change in the Application Form by way of any addition/deletion/alteration/amendment/ change of any particular etc. under any circumstance whatsoever. 

o No request will not be entertained in case of change in category. o Result of the Entrance Test will be published by Panjab University, Chandigarh and will be displayed on the university website (http://results.puchd.ac.in). 

o Only qualified candidates of B.Ed. CET 2019 will be eligible for “Online Choice Filling Process”. The instructions and other details regarding online choice filling process will be available on the website. 

o Candidate has to provide choices of 10 Colleges in order of Preference. Along with each selected college candidate has to choose one subject combination. 

o For some subject combinations, less than 10 colleges may be available, then in that case candidate need to select all the available colleges.

o Two “Online Counselling” will be conducted by Panjab University as per Punjab Government Notification. The candidates must check the schedule from the website regularly.

 o The allocation of seats for admissions to B.Ed. for session 2019-21 shall be based on the merit of B.Ed.CET-2019 and choices filled by the candidate.

o In case candidate has not provided the choices, he/she will not be allotted any college and no further chance will be given after the last dates for choice filling as mentioned on the website link “Important Dates”. 

o The candidates will be held responsible for filling the online application form and making choice of teaching subject on their own behalf. Hence, it is recommended that the candidates may proceed to the process of online registration at their own. However, they can take the help from the Help Desks established by the colleges for the convenience. The institutions will not be held responsible for any online activity done by the candidates.

 o The Seats up to 70% of sanctioned intake at Malwa Central College of Education for Women, Ludhiana shall be reserved for rural women candidates who are bonafide residents of Punjab State. The candidate must fulfill the stipulated criteria for reservation of Rural Women Candidates as per Form ‘C’ available on the website
The students should themselves hold responsible for filling the online registration form and making the choices on their own behalf, because it is the sole responsibility of the student. Hence it is recommended that the students may proceed to the process of online registration by their own level. However, they can take the help from the Help Desks established by the institutions for the convenience of the students. The institutions will not be held responsible for any online activity done by the student.

Documents to be given to the college at time of admission:

  1. Detail marks card of 8th class (needed only in case of candidates who have passed 8th class from a school situated in Rural Area).

    2. Rural Area Claim (certified by District Education Officers), if claimed.

    3. Detail marks card of all examinations.

    4. Character Certificate (for the institution last attended).

    5. Residence Certificate.

    6. Reservation category Certificate (these forms should be on format indicated in prospectus and signed only by authorized person only).

    7. In case of OBC candidates, an income certificate is also mandatory.

MANAGEMENT QUOTA SEATS

Total number of seats in the college is 100 out of which 85% seats are Punjab State Quota and remaining 15% seats are All India Quota. 15% of the seats out of 85% Punjab State Quota are Management Quota Seats. The seats under the Management Quota will be filled by the college as per the guidelines of competent authority. For admission against these seats, contact the Principal.

FEES

A candidate admitted to the B.Ed. course shall pay the fees as prescribed by Punjab Govt./ Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar.
